Basquiat (1996) is a film about Brooklyn Artist Jean- Michel Basquiat who became popular in the 80s under the guidance of Andy Warhol. His work is called “Poststmodernist/Neo Expressionist”.
Jeffrey Wrightplays Basquiat, who also played in Shaft (2000) and Cadillac Records (2008).
I’m a huge David Bowie fan, and he plays Andy Warhol.
I’m not crazy about the whole “Glorified-Troubled-Artist-on-Heroin” aspect, because you don’t have to be high to create great Art, but this is nonetheless a very good movie. Check it out!
