When somebody tried to break into my neighbor’s house a couple of weeks ago, you figured it was some kids or a Meth addict that did it.
Back in 1969, this 400 year old painting, Carravagio’s Nativity with Saints Francis and Lawrence, was stolen. I doubt some kids or a Meth addict were the culprits.
Think about it.
This painting wasn’t just sitting on the wall inside an Ordinary Joe’s house. It was inside a place called the Oratory of San Lorenzo in Palermo, Sicily…….That sounds expensive.
Caravaggio is also considered a Master Artist, so that means this painting is worth millions.
Security alarms, cameras, and vicious pit bulls
probably surrounded this piece at all times.
With that kind of value, and the fact that the painting hasn’t been seen again since, means there was a sophisticated plan in action to get it and sell it to somebody.
I wouldn’t necessarily say that the “Mafia” did it, but was it an organized crime outfit of some sort?
You’d better believe it.
