“Carravagio Pt II: Did The Mafia Do It?”

Caravaggio. Nativitity With Saints Francis and LawrenceWhen somebody tried to break into my neighbor’s house a couple of weeks ago, you figured it was some kids or a Meth addict that did it.

Back in 1969,  this 400 year old painting,  Carravagio’s Nativity with Saints Francis and Lawrence, was stolen. I doubt  some kids or a Meth addict were the culprits.

Think about it.

This painting wasn’t  just sitting on the wall inside an Ordinary Joe’s house. It was inside a place called the Oratory of San Lorenzo in Palermo, Sicily…….That sounds expensive.

Caravaggio is also considered a Master Artist, so that means this painting is worth millions.

Security alarms, cameras, and vicious pit bulls :) probably surrounded this piece at all times.

With that kind of value, and the fact that the painting hasn’t been seen again since, means there was a sophisticated plan in action to get it and sell it to somebody.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that the “Mafia” did it, but was it an organized crime outfit of some sort?

You’d better believe it.
