Carole’s subject matter is water based, whether it’s Koi, Sea Turtles, water gardens, etc. Beautiful stuff.

I was impressed by the fact that she has no formal training, and learned more by trial and error.

Carole is currently the President of the AGSF, which requires juggling a lot of hats, so her tenacity to learn how to paint is just a part of her makeup. If I’m not mistaken, Carole also has a regular job, too! Whew…

Michael Domecq, a Documentary Filmmaker born in New York spent some time at our show talking about how my Art made him feel (”This Art is real……. This is what life is all about…).

Somewhere between puffs of cigar smoke he connected with this painting.

     At a Guild show you talk to people from all over the world. Oftentimes those people are from the same country who happen to visit America but they don’t know each other.

I had a show at Union Square, San Francisco over the weekend with my comrades in the Artist Guild. That’s a normal thing. But something was in the air in England.

The Cottee Family (pictured on the left) bought “Sneaky III”. They live in Tip Tree, Essex, a village in England.

The Wilce Family from Woodford Green, Essex, England, took “Before The Show” home.

A flight from San Francisco to England is about 10 hrs (5370 miles)…….The two cities above are about 45 miles apart.

One of the most exciting things about being an Artist is having someone from another country interested in your work. It can happen often being in the Guild because of the locations we show at, but it never gets old to me.

What is enjoyable is that he is a realistic Oil Painter, but his work still looks like a painting.

He’s been a  member of the Artist Guild of San Francisco for 5 years. If you visit his booth at these art shows you will not only get to see some detailed, vibrant work, but you’ll also get a taste of his crazy sense of humor.

But one thing about Dennis: He likes to joke a lot, but his Art is definitely no joke. Check out his Facebook page:

The size of KISH is 30 x 40″.

Believe it or not, but the challenge here is painting the dirt! The look I want is almost there.

I’ll post the final when it’s done.

When he saw the painting (click on the image) he was all smiles.

This was one of those times where I was really happy to be able to do what I do.

Cleveland is a brave man. His fight with Lou Gehrig’s disease continues and it will take time. But more important than a painting to assist in his recovery is the fact that he is surrounded by those who love him. I wish him all the success there is.

Here is a message from Christina:

“As I said before, when I first contacted you while dad was in the hospital, he was truly frail.  I know that you couldn’t really tell from your first encounter with my dad, but he is WAY stronger than he was.  He was thinner than he is now.  He has put on weight and he can hold his head up for long stretches at a time and sit in a chair.  He has been using the exercise bike.  His heart and lungs are in excellent condition.  The expert doctor who diagnosed him with ALS in September 2009 told him he had three months to live.  Well that was almost a year ago!  Your portrait is one more positive step forward towards his recovery.  Our whole family is so grateful.”
