<h3 style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; COLOR: #000000"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Leroy Parker presents drawings, paintings and mixed media taken from the <span id="lw_1269965769_4">Golden Age</span> of Jazz.  Marvel on the familiar imagery and abstractions of his artwork.  Find the pattern of predictability set up by the rhythmic repeats in the format, and the most extreme opposite.  Discover how Parker&#8217;s works create a stimulating tension.</p>
<p>Leroy Parkers&#8217; work is great addition to the Curatorial collaboration of the Oakland Marriott City Center and Joyce Gordon Gallery, as both present local Bay Area Artists celebrating Jazz Music.</p>
<p>Parker grew up in <span id="lw_1269965769_5">Oklahoma</span> where he <span>loved the woods and the earth, and watching storms with thunder and lightning. He went to <span><span>California College of <span id="lw_1269965769_6">Art Crafts</span>, and earned a BFA and MFA.  He is an artist/professor/art dealer currently living in Lafayette, CA.</span></span></span><br />

<h2>Bray, the man in the pic on the left, was one of the guys I used to jam with. Back then he was mainly a Bass player, but has since expanded to play several other instruments.</h2>
<p><strong>The other night we ate dinner just to catch up.  He said it had been two years since the last time we kicked it, and I couldn&#8217;t believe it. </strong></p>
<p><strong>It also didn&#8217;t seem like that long ago when he helped me put together some demos back in the mid-1990s. To this day, that was one of the best times I ever had.</strong></p>
<h2>Bray is a talented Musician who now tours internationally and releases critically acclaimed albums. Check out his music&#8211;click on his pic.</h2>
<p><strong>If 2-dimensional Art didn&#8217;t call me, I would have been a serious Musician, travelling in a van as he sometimes does, going from gig to gig. </strong></p>
<p><strong>I like to look at Bray as the manifestation of the road I didn&#8217;t take, and the man is really burning that road up. On stage, his strongest domain, he is like a new version of David Bowie meets Morris Day&#8230;.</strong></p>

<p><strong>I remember the original LP&#8211; still have that vinyl at my parents&#8217; house. I was really fond of the song Prince did&#8211; &#8220;4 The Tears In Your Eyes&#8221; and Bruce Springsteen&#8217;s &#8220;Trapped&#8221;.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Say what you want about celebrities&#8211; but a lot of them do give back.</strong></p>
